NEWS NEWS NEWS!

Good day! I hope I'm finding you relaxed and enjoying your holidays. So there are two dates that need to be mentioned today:

1. Ravi Night on wednesday - starting @ 8:00 at the Reimer residence. We usually finish around 10:00

2. KICK-OFF/COOK-OFF!! Jan.7 (Thursday) @ 7:00. Meet at the Superstore Community Kitchen room up the stairs. Make sure to bring your $5 to contribute to your cooking groups food fund. This is a great place to invite friends into the our little youth community.

Note: Janelle and I will be gone to Kansas City for a prayer retreat/family thingy from this Friday until Jan.7. We can be reached by email if you would like to chat. Oh, and I'll be around this week if anyone feels like chatting!

Ravi Night #2

Our next discussion surrounding the Ravi videos will be this thursday, 8:00 pm, Doug and Janelle's house. Our last discussion was a really awesome time of thought and fellowship. Hope some who couldn't make it last week will be able to make it this week!

Ravi Night...

So it looks like Wednesday night at 8:00 will be our Ravi Zacharias study night. We'll be looking into questions of pluralism, relativism, postmodernism etc. (and some other 'isms'). It'll be at the D + J Reimer house, and don't forget that this will be a pretty focused evening - not so much in the games/entertainment category. Come ready to think!

PS - this isn't an 'official' youth evening - so don't feel obligated to come - just if you're interested!

Tonight...

Hey, so most should already know that tonight is our Christmas wind-up party thing at Andrew Enns' house (74 Homestead Cres.). Here's how you get there:

- turn west on McKenzie from Brandt (towards Mitchell at the Mini Storage/Barkman concrete corner)
- Go through the Stop sign at the mile road
- turn left on Homestead crescent (two entrances, the first one is most direct)
- turn at #74 - the 3rd driveway on the right

Looking forward to seeing you all in your hideous sweaters!

Pizza Pizza!

Greetings!!

Here's something from Cassandra for you all to take note of:

"Hey guys! So as some of you know, I am heading to Guyana (near Brazil) from December 30-January 20. I am going with a team from Steinbach Bible College and are also going with CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). We will be doing 5-day Clubs and working alongside the local church to encourage them in their ministry. As you guys know, a trip like this is not cheap. So to help raise funds, our group has decided to do the Spence Brother's Pizza (same as you guys did for Haiti). So if you guys love pizza, or your families love pizza and would like to support me in my adventure you can order pizza's from me. I will bring the form with me to youth on Thursday and if you could let me know if you want to order any and either bring the money this week or next week at the lastest that would be incredible!! I am pumped to share my journey to Guyana with all of you!!
~ Thanks! Cassandra

Wrapping up Ruth

As the above title states - tomorrow is the last of our four part study of Ruth! We'll be trying to draw our final conclusions and spend time letting the message of the book sink in. I'm hoping this will be where the rubber hits the road for some of us. See you tomorrow!

PS - Those who haven't received and paid for their Haiti photo books remember your money!

Next Week:

Winnipeg Harvest was amazing last night! Our group did some very quick and quality work! We sorted groceries and bagged sugar, and did every job they had for us and then some. From there it was to BK and home.

This next week is going to be Ruth 3 on thursday with Josh doing games. Big note - next weekend its missions conference in our church. Which means theres a bunch of missions organizations from around the world who will be out doing little mini seminars. It'll be really good if you are at all interested in going overseas, or just want to hear whats going on on the mission field. Doug, Janelle and Roxanne are leading worship for the main sessions (if you want to come and support!)

Winnipeg Harvest

Hope you're all looking forward to getting down and dirty this week! We're off to Winnipeg Harvest (which is a food bank warehouse). We're going to serve Jesus through serving the people of manitoba in need of food. We sort food, vegetables, bag flour, etc. The work seems to vary from time to time. So be ready to leave on thursday from the church at 5:45. We'll arrive back at the church at around 10:00ish. Should be an awesome time.

Bring $3 for gas money - and some money for food if you want on the way home.

Ruth 2

Hello friends,

Just letting you know that the walk through continues tonight. We'll be going through Ruth 2. Here are some thoughts that could be helpful as you head in:

1. What does deep character look like in both Ruth and Boaz?
2. How do you see God's providence working itself into the story so far?
3. Does the theme of the Kinsman Redeemer make sense - do you see this theme in the NT?

Looking forward to seeing you all tonight!

Good Times...

Well, its 11:54 and its thundering and flashing outside. Loving the light show. Tonight was a lot of fun - I really enjoyed the whole line dancing thing. Thanks again to Kara and her sister for putting that together!

Next week will be Bible Study - we'll be introducing the book of Ruth and laying down the basics. 7:00 - bring your Bible. Things you can already start thinking through are:

1. What is the gospel - does it change anything?
2. Does God work through all circumstances - is life random, or is He working in the details?
3. Where can you see God's hand at work right now?

Of coarse reading through the book of Ruth would be a good idea to - its an interesting story with lots of layers to peal through.

Anyway - love you guys lots. See you soon

Doug

PS - Cafe opens next Tuesday.

September...

Hey people, just reminding you that kick-off is next week and you should come with whoever you want to invite. The location is at 'the loft' in Kleefeld. If you turn west on College ave (the first street in Kleefeld) its about 1/2 mile on the right and there will be a sign with the words 'The Loft' at the end of the driveway. Call me if you have questions. Remember your duct tape and bug spray.

The cardboard battle is going to rock this year - its a combination of the past battles with a capture the flag type twist. More strategy, lots of fun.

Remember to get your retreat registration forms, they're on the back table at the church. Retreat is from the Sept 25 - 27. THE FORMS NEED TO BE ON THE 11th!!!

Calendars are also on the back table for the months of Sept. and Oct.

Kick off!

Just a reminder to you all that our kick-off is on Sept 10 (thurs). Bring a role or two of duct tape, come ready to reconnect through beating one another in love! The event will be on a farm just west of Kleefeld. I'll post directions for you all in the future.

Connection...

Hello Friends!

So we're going to make an attempt at greater connectivity and communication this year - and this is our first attempt! This is will be a place where we post current news, maybe some thoughts, Bible Study outlines, have conversations etc. We'll work with who has access to make posts and make changes to the blog. Hopefully our paths will all cross soon.
