November Notes...

So as you know my Family and I are heading down to Texas as of this thursday for a month and a half for a time of training, rest and visioning for the future at the Village Church in Flower Mound TX. We're extremely excited for what God has for us while we are down south.

Yet on the other hand we are also excited for what God is going to do here in Steinbach while we're gone. We have been blessed with a leadership team that has shown great character and commitment in the way they serve in HSC. Christian, Izzy, and Ana will be taking the reigns while we are gone. We fully trust these dear friends and are excited how a time like this will grow them as the youth group grows. Christian will be acting in the headship role for the youth group and will take any pressing concerns to Pastor Jared, or the Elder board if need be. 

Note - November 15 will be a UGM night - meet at the church at 5:00. Gerald Wiebe will be a guest driver/chaperone for the evening. Send your questions to Christian, Izzy, or Ana if you have any!

HSC Cancelled

Hey guys,

So we've been watching the weather and what it's supposed to be like this evening and we've concluded it would be good for us all to stay home tonight. For the first bible study we want everyone to be able to come. So it'll be bible study next week instead of CG.

An idea - if you want to prep for our next weeks Bible study read through the book of Matthew this week taking note of every time the word 'kingdom' comes up. Also read Daniel 2.

September !?!?

Hey all, did you notice that september is once again upon us?? Crazy. This means HSC will be once again ramping back up into our regular schedule. Kick off is on Sept. 13 - MARK IT IN YOUR CALENDAR! If you can't make it for that, don't worry because:

Fall retreat to Spruce Woods is coming up on Sept 21-23!! This is one of the years highlights as we spend a couple of days getting to know each other, introducing themes and vision for the next year, exploring the Manitoba desert, having campfires and night games etc. Feel free to invite friends!!! This is a great place to step into our community for the first time.

Wind-up!!!

It's official - the wind-up will be at the Berciers - come ready for games and good times by the fire! 7:00 start - 10:00 finish. Map to be posted ASAP.

May Calendar of Events

May 3 - Movie Night: Church History - we will be viewing the movie 'Luther' with the purpose of understanding our past and present story a little better. Come ready to think and enjoy! Meet at the church @ 7:00.

May 5 - Awakening - Come pray, worship and minister to one another together with other people from the church. Starts @ 6:30 in the church basement.

May 10 - Community Group - talk to your leaders about location

May 17 - Bible Study - We'll be finishing up 1 Peter - it would be awesome if you came having read the whole book through again. Meet at the church at 7:00.

May 24 - Community Group - Talk to your leaders about location

May 31 - Siloam Mission - Leaving from the church @ 4:45. Eat before you come - if this would be difficult contact Doug and Janelle about supper @ their house.

April Schedule

Greetings everyone! Here's our schedule for next month:

April 5 - Thursday - We will be having a Sister from a overseas coming to give us a report of whats going on in the countries she's serving in. Its going to be awesome and very worth your while to come out. We will also be doing some graffiti removal and other work with our hands around Steinbach. Meet at the the church at 7:00. Clothes you can dirty would be good to wear!

April 12 - Thursday - Community Groups - talk to you Leaders for locations.*

April 19 - Thursday - Bible Study - We're moving towards the completion of 1 Peter (we'll be on the chapters 4 and maybe 5.

April 26 - Thursday - Community Groups - talk to you Leaders for locations.*

* If you don't have a CG talk to Doug and we'll get you hooked up.

March Schedule

March 8 - SRSS film festival - come support our fellow Cornerstoners as their films are shown - meet at the SRSS it starts @ 7:00. We'll be going to the church after to have a worship time after and snack etc.

March 15 - Bible Study - read through 1 peter chapter 4 if you want to be ready! 7:00 at the church.

March. 22 - Community Groups - Talk to your leader for location - if you don't have one call Doug!

March 26-30 - Spring Break! We'll be praying for all of those heading up to Hodgson to do VBS!

April 5 - Service Project - Location TBA

Change of Plans!!

We are now meeting at the church @ 6:30! (the roads are horrendous!!)

We're going swimming in Steinbach - so bring a swim suit.

We're doing our first session and intro to the retreat tonight at the church and than having night games and snack etc.

Those who want to sleep at the church are welcome to - leaders will be staying the night.

Weather permitting we will be leaving for Winkler tomorrow morning @ 8:30.

To bring...

Departing: Friday March 2nd from church at 5:15 (eat before you come)

Cost: $75 (cheques written to Cornerstone Bible Church)

Arriving home: sometime around 3-4 sunday afternoon.

Things to bring

• Bible!
• Winter things (we’ll play outside)
• bedding (mattress provided)
• indoor shoes/slippers
• everything for weekend away (towel if you want to shower etc)
• skates?

February Dates:

Feb 2 - Thursday - Community groups - talk to you leaders about location. Remember, if you don't have a CG talk to Doug or Janelle and we'll hook you up!

Feb 9 - Thurs - Core teaching Night - we'll be jumping back into the men and women stuff again - come ready and primed to better understand God's design for the genders!

Feb 16 - Thurs - CG

Feb 18 - Sat - Awakening - come seek God through worship and prayer. This is an intensive evening for those who are desiring to just worship and allow God to change them.

Feb 23 - Thurs - Service Project - TBA

March 2-4 - Retreat!! Sign up ASAP to come with us to Winkler Bible Camp - its going to be a great time of growth and fun!

January Important Dates:

Jan. 15 - Haiti Potluck - after church this sunday

Jan. 19 - Community groups - talk to your leader for location - if you don't have one contact Doug!

Jan. 21 - Service Project - Leaving for Siloam mission @ 10:00 am sharp from the church! Eat before you go, and bring a bag lunch or money to eat after (we're done working at around 2:00, and will eat in the city) Expect to be back at around 4:30.

Jan. 26 - Progressive Supper - Meet at the church at 6:00 with your appetite! We'll be going between several different homes of people from our church eating different parts of our supper. Should be a good time to connect, enjoy God's gift of food and spend good time with friends.

Jan. 29 - Baptisms!! Come to Cornerstone for sunday morning to encourage those who are getting baptized (if you're interested in baptism, let us know asap! Even if you're only interested, lets talk!)
